The Pragmatic Studio

Mastering Rails, iPhone, and Clojure in Reston

November 10, 2009

We appreciate that many of you are trying to budget training for early next year. And we really appreciate you using the notify list to let us know which courses you’re interested in. Based on that input, we’ve been hunkered down (snowed in, actually) scheduling dates and locations for our next round of Studios.

Today we’re excited to announce a trio of Studios for you to choose from in Reston, VA in March 2010.

Mastering Ruby and Rails Studio

March 9-12, 2010

The Mastering Ruby and Rails Studio is a highly interactive, team-based workshop, combining a mixture of relaxed instruction and hands-on lab work. We’ve taken the best of our Advanced Ruby and Advanced Rails courses and designed this 4-day master course for practicing developers. You’ll learn directly from Dave Thomas and Chad Fowler, and come away feeling like a Ruby and Rails Master!

iPhone Studio

March 9-12, 2010

The iPhone Studio is a 4-day, hands-on training course where you’ll learn how to create full-featured iPhone applications from two experienced iPhone developers and authors: Bill Dudney and Daniel Steinberg. You’ll come away from this Studio knowing Xcode, Interface Builder, Objective-C, Cocoa Touch programming, and the APIs included in the iPhone SDK 3.1. You’ll be ready to create your first iPhone application, or improve upon your existing application. Many folks who have attended this course have applications selling in the App Store.

Clojure Studio

March 15-17, 2010

The Clojure Studio is a new 3-day course where you’ll learn to program Clojure with Rich Hickey, the creator of the language, and Stuart Halloway, author of the popular book Programming Clojure. Clojure is a dynamic programming language with the elegance of a good scripting language, and the concurrent power of the Java Virtual Machine. You’ve heard about functional programming. This is your chance to really get into it and learn directly from the experts.

The early registration discount (save $300) runs through January 15th, but we don’t recommend waiting until the last minute. Seating is limited and, well, signing up now is easier than remembering to sign up later.

Thanks for your continued support, and we look forward to seeing you in Reston in 2010!
